If your vehicle is a 2018, 2019 or 2020 with less than 70,000 miles then you are required to get a Safety-Only Inspection

How can I pass Inspection
How can I receive a Waiver?
After your fist failed inspection take your vehicle to a mechanic. If you spend at least $200 on repairs and that does NOT fix the emissions related problem, then come back to the inspection station to get a second failed inspection (at no additional charge) After that take BOTH failed inspections along with the receipts from your mechanic that total $200 or more to the DMV. After you receive the waiver you must bring it back to the SAME inspection station so that the inspector can complete the inspection and you get PASSED!!!

The ONLY DMV that gives out waivers is located at 12101 Mt Holly-Huntersville Rd Huntersville, NC 28078

They ONLY give out waivers for two hours each day during the week. Monday - Friday 8am - 10am

After successful completion of your inspection renew your tag online in just a few simple steps.
Click Registration Renewal
Type in License Plate and Last 5 digits of your Title number then Click GET STARTED
